Art School Ilkley
We are now into our ninth year of providing art workshops and classes and are very proud of our students achievements. A number have now gone on to study at formal art institutions, gaining places on Foundation, Degree and Post Graduate courses
Our aim has always been to provide a place in Ilkley where people can gather, develop new skills, and in engage with others on a creative journey. We provide the space, guidance and materials but most importantly the encouragement to begin. Our studio is place where students can feel comfortable, relaxed and ready to engage wholeheartedly with their personal artistic journey.
We offer regular classes, which run on a ten or five week term basis for young artists and adults. Each term we explore materials and approaches through a series of projects, allowing time to develop new skills driven by the student’s personal response.
Sarah & John Gamble
Sarah enjoyed her career working as an art specialist secondary school teacher and latterly as a lecturer in PGCE Art and Design.
She has a personal practice that centres around textiles, print and stitch. Sarah has had work exhibited nationally and continues to develop her practice whilst working on collaborative projects with other established artists.
John completed his MA in Creative Practice from Leeds Arts University. He knows the value of continuing education and providing space for people to engage with creativity.
His work is intuitive, responding to memory, soundscapes and place. He allows himself the joyful freedom to erase, obliterate, remove and then to repair, whilst slowly shifting the drawings focus.
Emma-Jayne Emmott
Emma-Jayne is an artist, photographer, and educator based in Ilkley who has experienced a rich and inspiring career as an art specialist in secondary schools across the country. She holds a BA in Fine Art Painting from Loughborough University, and her personal practice explores the beauty of the natural world, blending photography with the vibrant elements of print and paint.
Tutors hold enhanced DBS checks. They are members of Artist Network and Axis Arts.
