10 Week Courses: Adult Visual Arts
Fully tutored with all materials and refreshments provided.
New: Print with Lino and Stencil
Tuesday’s 10-12 (5 week course) Starts 25/02/2025
This new course concentrates on the exploration of experimental printmaking techniques and stencil work. You will delve into the origins of the "wall hanging," drawing inspiration from medieval tapestries, with an emphasis on design elements such as line and pattern. These techniques are ideally suited to printmaking and will allow you to explore how artisans create visual narratives through motifs and patterns.
The work will be generated through hands-on exploration, with the workshop being fast-paced and filled with practical demonstrations and visual resources to inspire you. You will learn how to design effective motifs and create dynamic patterns, while developing a solid understanding of composition through creative play and experimentation. All of this work will culminate in the creation of a decorative wall hanging.
By the end of the workshop, you will leave feeling inspired and excited to continue your creative journey. This course is suitable for both beginners and more advanced artists. All materials for the course will be provided, but it is recommended that you bring your personal sketchbook for note-taking and collecting examples.

“I have attended classes for several years now with Ilkley Art School. Each session varies in terms of materials, models and poses and we are encouraged to try new techniques based on a short introduction to established artists. It’s always interesting, fun and inspiring”
“The course has really changed my life”
A students poem
“The Art Studio, This thin place, This liminal space, This living, ancient temple of Divine creation. Sheets of paper fall like waves Carrying Venus to shore. Through chalk-dust clouds Mythic heroes emerge Shrouded in softness. I am held aloft by many hands To better see the Golden columns of light; A gift from the gods”
